In the past few weeks, I’ve been lucky enough to sample some delicious eats at some Tampa area restaurants that were new to me (and a few that are solid regular locations. Can’t beat that!). I thought I’d share them in one droolworthy review.
I’d never dined at Timpano before, and was excited to sit down to lunch there. I enjoyed the BLT salad…which is probably the greatest BLT salad ever. It was like a BLT and a caprese salad got together and made a very delicious baby. I don’t know which part was my favorite: the house made mozzarella, the MAPLE CAJUN BACON slices, the fresh tomatoes, the arugula…it was a glorious combination. I officially want to make a return visit and try more of their menu.
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting an amazing local business to get a peek behind the scenes.
You might remember when I gushed about Toffee To Go in the past. I’ve enjoyed their toffee at two different food events in the Tampa area in the past few months. I was so happy when Lisa and Jim invited me over to their store (and kitchen) in South Tampa! It was so cool to see that the toffee is homemade with love! You can’t beat that.
Toffee To Go really does keep it simple, and I like that about them. They offer three different flavor varieties of their toffee: milk chocolate with almonds (their top seller), white chocolate with macadamia nuts, and dark chocolate with pecans (my personal favorite).
Earlier this week, my friend Megan and I visited the 2013 Florida State Fair. Hello gluttony! Hello freak shows! Hello animals! Hello rides that you could never get me to go on because I am sure I would toss my cookies….
I’ve been visiting the Florida State Fair for a few years now, and I do love the spectacle of it all. There are games galore riddling the midway, with workers beckoning you to try your hand at throwing a ball at a target in order to win an enormously oversized stuffed animal. By the way – if you win one of those, what do you do with it? I am pretty sure I saw some people carrying around stuffed animals that were larger than me. Does it fit in your car???
On Saturday night, MOSI hosted their 18th annual Einstein on Food & Wine event (presented by ABC Fine Wine and Spirits), and I was lucky enough to be in attendance! Einstein on Food & Wine is a celebration of the senses, featuring wine and food tastings from the grater Tampa Bay area. It is a huge fundraising event for MOSI, and they really pulled out the stops when it came to the evening! There was so much to see and so much to taste!
