Links Loved

10 Mar

Here are some links I loved this week:

If you’re a social media fan, you will appreciate the hilarity behind the website WTF QR Codes. One of my social media pet peeves is when I see poorly executed QR codes, and these examples will make you laugh out loud:

“Seems like a great way to thwart pickpockets — stand in a subway terminal with your attention focused on your expensive smartphone as you watch a video about pickpockets.”

I’m dying to buy these shoes. Seriously. So fun!

The United States made out of cast iron skillets – how cool is that? Now, if only they weren’t so expensive, I’d totally want to own the Florida one!

My buddy Jennifer from Belle de Couture is giving away a fringe necklace from Eugenia Woods (through March 16) – so so cool!

The cutest USB hubs ever? I think so. Apparently they won’t be for sale until later this year, but I so want to pick up these little piggies!

Finally, today is the last day to visit and like my Facebook page: tell me which Essie nail polish you’d like to have! I’ll be selecting a winner and sending that individual the polish of their choice!

As always, feel free to visit me on Twitter, Pinterest, and as SheLikesRuffles on Instagram for more goodies!

SOPA/PIPA

18 Jan

Have you seen the landing page on Google today?

I know you have probably been bombarded with information about SOPA/PIPA lately, so I won’t get on my soapbox about how scary having legislation like that pass could be for the Internet.

Instead, I just want to link you to the petition and encourage you to sign it/share it with others. If you aren’t familiar with SOPA or PIPA, you can read more about them.

So, will you sign the petition?

Feel Free to Thank Me

You guys, I am about to blow your mind with some amazing knowledge.

I tweeted about this new discovery on Thursday afternoon, so you might have missed it. Never fear though: this was too awesome to keep to myself.

First: I love Google Reader. It is the best way for me to keep track of the multitude of blogs I love. However, it is ugly. So many of you have absolutely beautiful blogs, and you spent a good deal of thought and time into the design. Google Reader doesn’t let you see any of it! What a bummer.

Did you know that you can change the settings of your Google Reader? Furthermore, did you know that there is a toolbar icon that you can install? Well, i heart faces posted a tutorial recently that has forever changed the way that I read blogs on my Reader.

Click here for the tutorial via i heart faces

So, now I have this little “Next” button installed on my toolbar (right next to my Pinterest pinning tool…this could get dangerous to my free time). Whenever the mood strikes me, I can hit it and I’ll be brought directly to my next unread Reader item. I get to see the beautiful blog! I don’t have to click through to leave a comment! It is GLORIOUS!

I will say, the one thing I don’t like about the “Next” button is that it brings you to the most recent item posted, not the oldest. Typically, I prefer going through my Reader with the oldest posts first. But I think I can learn to work with this: perhaps in the future Google will allow the option to read oldest to newest…do you hear me Google?

So…what are you waiting for? Go install the “Next” button NOW! And, if you already have it installed, how do you like it?

Need some design in your life?

Good morning – happy Saturday!

I wanted to pop in to let you all know that my buddy Nikki over at Delightful Designs is having a 50% off sale at her Etsy shop this weekend (through Sunday night). She can help you to create a blog button, a header, or even an entire site design if you’re in the market for one! I’m also a fan of the business card designs she has available. Simply enter the code FIFTY when you purchase at her shop!

And…if you scroll down a bit on my page, you’ll see my new button! So – grab it and post it on your page if you like! No pressure.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
