Even though it is only August…and the temperatures are STILL sky high here in Florida…it has begun. Fall clothing and accessories have started to invade the stores. It seems that all of the new arrivals are geared toward the cooler season, and I have to admit: it makes me nostalgic. Did you enjoy shopping for the new school year when you were a kid? I loved the excitement of it. Buying new school supplies was always a treat (nerd alert…but seriously: how great is a brand new set of pens/pencils/notebooks?), and shopping for a few new outfits was always a fun pastime with my mom. I would eagerly await the beginning of school to don my new duds.
Even though I’m not in need of new outfits for back to school, I can’t help but feel a bit of a thrill when I spot new items hit the stores for a new season. Seeing the fall clothes makes me wonder how long it will take for Florida to start experiencing cooler temperatures. By the way…that probably won’t be until October. So for now…I’ll just go ahead and covet the pretty new items I wish I could add to my closet. I rounded up a collection of 12 items I would choose right now:
Statement necklaces and fun accessories! A neutral colored necklace one that will match most outfits, and one for a pop of color. Plus, a fun belt to cinch the waist of dresses or tops…
1. Tip the scales necklace – Jeweliq // 2. Grosgrain bow stretch belt – LOFT // 3. Layered spike bib – Jeweliq
One flat, and one heel. I love the whimsy you can go for with flats, and these heart topped shoes are seriously cute. As for a pump: a neutral pattern (like this snakeskin one) will be great to match most outfits.
4. Pop heart flat – Nordstrom // 5. Reanna pump – Nordstrom
Dresses…because I can’t get enough of them. One that is girly, one with stripes (because I’m obsessed), and one classic shift that I can wear in warmer weather, but pair with tights/boots as the temperatures get cooler.
6. Printed chambray dress – Old Navy // 7. Bending the rules dress – ModCloth // 8. Button sleeve ponte knit dress – Old Navy //
Fun basic tops. I love the embellishment of the striped top – taking a basic up a level! And a feminine tank is a great piece to wear in the hotter weather, but also works well when paired with a jacket or cardigan later on in the year.
9. Black stones stripe necklace tee – LOFT // 10. Sheer to stay top – ModCloth
Jeans. I have to say, I usually despise shopping for jeans, but I’ve recently found some options I adore. I discovered Rich & Skinny jeans about a month ago, and I am obsessed with how great they look and feel. I own a pair very similar to this dark denim one, and I am not going to hesitate purchasing another one (or two) if I spot them again for a good deal. And you can’t go wrong with a black jean either – I’m digging this high waist skinny version from GAP. Is anyone else excited about high waist items being in style? I never did like wearing hip hugging jeans, so finding pairs of pants with a high waist…that DON’T look like mom jeans are a big plus.
