Friday Confession
Today I have a confession to make.
I am obsessed with a reality show. And no, I don’t mean one that showcases talent like So You Think You Can Dance or Top Chef, I mean one that is purely for kicks and giggles. That show would be Duck Dynasty.
I resisted it for a little while: I saw Justin change the channel over to A&E one evening and groaned when I saw a gaggle of bearded men in camouflage on the screen. But then I started watching it.

…and now I’m absolutely hooked on Duck Dynasty. Never in a million years would I expect to fall in love with a bunch of men with shaggy beards who eat squirrels and shoot ducks. It makes no logical sense, but there you have it. If you aren’t familiar with the Robertson family, they are multimillionaires that run a company called Duck Commander: they make duck calls and decoys! The show follows their business as well as the family’s antics, from catching frogs on a golf course to attempting to cut down a beehive to get fresh wild honey. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite family member, but if I had to, it would probably be Uncle Si. He is absolutely hilarious, and I really hope it isn’t all an act and he is genuinely like this in real life…

I could probably post about 100 other clips from the show, but I’m going to encourage you to check your TV schedule to see when the next airing of the show is. The first season is complete, and A&E is continually playing repeats of the first group of episodes. Also, A&E has renewed the show for season 2, which will bring 26 new episodes starting late this year. Luckily you have some time to watch the entire first season before anything new starts up! Make sure you catch the episode where Si and Jase go to hunt turkeys – I’m giggling just thinking about it.
So, I’m curious: is anyone else as obsessed with Duck Dynasty as I am? Please tell me I’m not the only one! Who is your favorite family member and what is your favorite moment from the show? And if you haven’t seen it yet – do me a favor and go set your DVR right now…

July 15, 2012 at 2:13 pm (313 days ago)Someone from work introduced me to Duck Dynasty a couple of months ago. We don’t have cable, so we can only see the episodes they air online, but it’s hysterical! Si is definitely the best character.
