Splurge or save: pink and orange colorblocking

Recently, I’ve been seeing a particular dress making it’s way through the blog world. It’s a brightly hued, colorblocked maxi dress made by Tibi, and it is quite pretty. But it’s also way too much of a splurge for me to even consider purchasing it. But, a girl can admire, right?

Yeahhhh. Tibi, you are just too expensive for me. No way, Jose!

Fortunately, the pink and orange colorblocking is quite popular right now, and even if you don’t want to splurge, there are quite a few options out there for you to save on a similar look! I’ve rounded up seven different options for you to consider…

One: GAP Chevron Stripe Maxi Dress $74.95

Two: ModCloth Love Me Trender Dress $49.99

Three: ModCloth Sorbetto Believe It Dress $47.99

Four: Wallis Colourblock Maxi Dress $42

Five: Nordstrom Donna Morgan Colorblock Cap Sleeve Silk Crepe de Chine Dress $188

Six: JC Penney J. Taylor Hi-Low Colorblock Maxi $35

Seven: Nordstrom Heed Colorblock Faux Wrap Dress $59.90

Are you a fan of the bright colorblock trend for the summer?

I’ve been admiring the brilliant purple pleated maxi skirt I first saw on Atlantic Pacific’s blog…even though I’m not a brand girl, every once in a while I wish I could afford one of those spectacular pieces like this Tibi dress! I’m a huge fan of brights and colour blocking this year, but haven’t done much with them myself. I should!

I know exactly how you feel! If I had the money, I’d definitely want to buy some more “brand” items, but for now I really do love what I can find at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx! ;) They’re right up my alley…

You probably already know this, but you can rent that amazing TIBI dress at rent the runway. That’s how I get to rock $500+ plus dresses without breaking the bank. Love the color blocking trend!

That’s a great point! I have to say, I’ve been nervous to try it out myself since I’ve heard mixed reviews. I’d be afraid I would pay for a dress, and even though they send you two sizes, neither would fit!

I had that same fear the first time I ordered, but it worked out great. The dress was super cute and looked amazing. The second time I ordered neither of the dresses fit, they were both too big (I’m pretty petite like you), so I just contacted them and told them this, sent the dresses back unworn, and they refunded my account. Basically it’s a win win either way. I’m actually rather obsessed with RTR and I rent all the time, I just always read through reviews to see what petite say to make sure it will be a good fit.

LOVE the modcloth one! I like color blocking with brights but i’m more of a pastel person.

Glad to help! I really could never afford that Tibi dress, so a similar style always makes me happy to see!
