Two new beauty tutorials for Thursday

Happy Thursday, my friends!

I wanted to drop in today to share two new beauty tutorials that I’ve put to use (and love)!

First up: a hair tutorial. I am no stranger to using styling tools, but with my fine/thin hair, there are certain styles that have eluded me in the past. One of those styles is the “beachy wave.” My hair doesn’t like to hold curl, and making loose waves/curls stay in my hair is sometimes asking the impossible. However, after using this tutorial, I am glad to say that it was a success (and it held throughout my day, with the assistance of hairspray)!

Here’s the finished product on my hair:

Next up: an eyeliner tutorial from Jane Marie. I’ll be honest: I don’t wear eyeliner very often, and when I do it is subtle. I have longed to be able to draw on a more dramatic line. I’ve thought that a cat eye would be impossible for me to achieve on my own. Until now. Apparently all I needed was some Scotch tape, my angled liner brush, and a tub of eyeliner…

As much as I love the very dramatic look of the cat eye, I decided to try mine “toned down” a bit for everyday wear. I can attest to the fact that the tutorial does work, and it’s really easy! I definitely want to amp this look up for a date night or other occasion, but here’s my tame version:

There you have it! I hope you enjoy…

Have you used either of these beauty tutorials? Do you have any other great ones to share?

Wow that eyeliner tutorial is such a great idea. I will have to try it. Although I’m not sure I can pull off the look.

I’m not even kidding – the easiest way in the world to do a cat eye is with E.L.F. gel eyeliner (sold at Target for a freaking DOLLAR). They sell it in a bunch of different colors, and the brush it comes with is PERFECT at creating a cat eye. This comes from an eye liner challenged person – so, trust me. It’s awesome. I’m not being paid to say this. I just really love it. :)

[...] It’s very subtle (though not as subtle as it looks in this photo), because a red-blonde combo is hard to do without getting a ketchup ‘n mustard look. My stylist also put a little bit of blonde in my bangs, so it’s not even technically all the way ombre. So I guess let’s talk instead about my new favorite wave-making method. I learned it from this awesome Refinery29 tutorial, which I found via the lovely Katie at She likes ruffles, he likes truffles. [...]
