The Gibson Tuck

14 Sep

A few weeks ago, I realized a childhood dream of french braiding my hair. Apparently I hadn’t had enough hair styling fun, because when I saw a tutorial this week I knew I’d have to try it. Usually when I see hair tutorials, I ignore them. My hair is thin, very straight, and only about 2 inches past my shoulders. All of the beautiful curled hair styles that I see would fall out of my hair in about 5 minutes. Sigh.

But this…this style I could do! So, on Monday afternoon I gave it a try. It was so easy…so simple…but so chic! All it requires is a ponytail holder and 3-4 bobby pins. I’m not kidding.

To see the tutorial, visit Simply Stardust’s blog! You’re welcome.

I always carry a hair tie and a few bobby pins in my handbag in case I need to put my hair up in the middle of the day when I’m out. Now, instead of a ponytail, it is going to be the Gibson Tuck all the way!

Do you have a favorite hair tutorial/style that you use or would like to try? What is it?

I used to do this all the time back when I was in ballet classes! Such a cute alternative to a regular bun!

Love it! And so easy. I’m not sure my hair is long enough for this (it’s above my shoulders), but I’m definitely going to try.

It might work, as long as you can put your hair into a ponytail with an inch or so of slack! The rolled part at the bottom will just be smaller I guess! I wish I’d known about how to do this back when my hair was a little shorter and all I knew how to do was a ponytail..

Well you already know I did this last night and it worked beautifully. :) I did have to pin some of my shorter layers that wanted to fall out, but I’m excited to have an option other than ponytail!

I loooove wearing my hair like this – I kind of discovered it by accident when I went to do one of those loopy pony tails, but my hair was too short to pull all the way through! Super cute :)

Oh my goodness, this is so classy and gorgeous! It doesn’t look easy to do at all, but I guess I’ll believe you. I’m totally inspired to give it a try sometime soon! (And P.S. I’m glad you scored some Missoni flats. When it came to that collection, we normal people really had to fight the crazies to get what we wanted!)
