Missoni Mania

14 Sep

With the introduction of the new Missoni line for Target, pandemonium ensued across the country yesterday. It was kind of fun to witness the various tweets, news stories, and the like unfold over the day. Target’s site went down, people were reporting old ladies filling multiple carts with Missoni goods to resell on Ebay; it was crazy.

I was not at the store when it opened. I’ll be honest; I was intrigued and wanted to see the line, but I wasn’t willing to fight the crowds. I needed to stop by Target to pick up a few cosmetics though, so I decided to stop in after work to see what was left. By 2:15pm, pretty much everything in the Missoni line was gone. However, one pair of flats remained. When I previewed the items online, they were the one item I said I’d want to look for; I don’t have a lot of flats in my shoe collection and I’ve been wanting to add some new ones. Well, low and behold…the one pair of flats left: my size. I took this as a sign that it was meant to be.

They are actually very soft and flexible, and I love the colors. They’ll definitely complement some of my more monochromatic attire for the fall and winter. And, for $30…they were a good deal! Mission accomplished.

On an unrelated note: I bought Sally Hansen’s Tyin’ the Knot! nail polish. Isn’t it pretty? I can’t wait to try it out.

So tell me: did you visit Target to check out the Missoni products? What did you pick up? What is the craziest story you heard about the day?

Cool flats! I went to Target during my lunch hour to return something, so I checked out the Missoni. In the clothes, there were a few extra smalls and a XXL left of some things, and there were lots of the dishes and glasses left. I did not know they had shoes or I might have looked myself. Those are so cute!

My SIL and I went to the Target in our neighborhood around 2p yesterday and there was NOTHING left. In fact it looked like the shelves were never even stocked. It was very disappointing. I ran home to buy the shoes online (because that is the only thing I really wanted) and the website was down as you know. I’m so mad that people buy it all and then resell it on eBay for a Profit. I think that’s wrong. I talked to the Manager of our store and he said that some items might be restocked so I am going to try the store again to try to get my hands on a pair of those shoes!! Wish me luck!

I totally agree with you: all of the people buying up everything in sight just make it no fun for the rest of us who just want items for ourselves!

There were a few items that I liked, but not enough to fight the crowds to get it. Really, I am not that big of a Missoni fan in the first place. Cute shoes though!

I know how you feel: I’m not crazy over Missoni, but I really did like the flats…in general…not because of the brand! So, I was satisfied!

UGH! I had these, in my size, in my basket… but put them back!

Totally kicking myself. I LOVE them on you!

Our local Target opens at 8am. I went shortly before 9am and EVERYTHING was gone! I could only find kids clothes (obviously weren’t going to fit me) and travel luggage. I also found one clipboard discarded at the checkout. Everything else was gone. They said the clothing and housewares were gone prior to 8:30am :( Disappointing!

I went to Target for some other stuff yesterday, and checked out the clothes. I really like the shoes you got, and the clothes were all really cute. But I didn’t buy anything, because (and I hate to say it) I don’t think the chevron print is very flattering. Sort of like how horizontal stripes make you look wider. But very cute on the hangers!

I took an insanely early work break yesterday at 9 a.m. and got to my Target only an hour after it opened–only sheets sets remained. Every other thing was sold out 15 minutes after the doors opened for the day! Total devastation since I’d had the date on my calendar for about 6 months.

Confession: I had NO idea that a Missoni line was even coming to Target! That being said, my SIL & BIL went to our local Target right as the store opened…and it was chaos. They say that people were pushing, shoving, and grabbing whatever they can from the racks and shelves without even checking (obviously these were people who were planning to resell everything on eBay). And after reading that the Target website was down yesterday due to the Missoni launch, I couldn’t help but shake my head in disbelief. I, personally, like looking at and wearing pretty things, but I don’t think I’ll ever go that far for fashion — however discounted or not! (But as I have waited in line for HOURS, even in freezing weather for gadget launches, I can certainly understand!)

Went to Tar-jay this morning for some last minute vacation shopping and they put xhiliaration dresses on the Missoni racks. Deception!

I did pick up a head scarf though. I’m kind of excited about it.

it WAS interesting to watch it play out online – ppl were getting so upset over stuff, just STUFF. that said, i did grab a decent haul in store and placed an additional order online. i give it a 50/50 chance of actually shipping though :)
