Restaurant Review: Casa Ludovico

If you have followed along with my wedding blog, you might recognize the name of this restaurant because it is a special place for Justin and me. My family started eating at Casa Ludovico a few years ago after discovering this little gem of a restaurant with some friends. It is a little bit off the beaten path near downtown Palm Harbor, but it is so worth the trip!

The restaurant is actually located within a two story yellow house; it is so cozy and welcoming! The wooden floors, the soft lights, and the smell of Italian food cooking is wonderful!

Casa Ludovico has two different menus: a sunset menu that is served until 7pm, and a regular menu that is served throughout all of the dinner service. We almost always make sure to arrive before 7 to take advantage of the sunset menu, as it features my favorite dish, plus there is 1/2 priced house wine!

They start you off with a basket of freshly baked bread with a side of garlic infused olive oil and olives…oh…and wine! Did I mention the wine is 1/2 price? I digress…

The last time we visited, Casa was offering a special appetizer of eggplant wrapped mini meatballs. We had to try them! Although I can’t eat red meat, I did consume 2 of these little guys – they were so moist and so flavorful! I had to remind myself to stop eating them after a few bites – I wanted more!

If you order a salad, you receive fresh spring mix with sliced tomatoes. You can dress the salad yourself with fresh olive oil and balsamic. Mmm.

Now we’re on to the main event. On this particular occasion, both my mom and Justin ordered the chicken parmigiana. A simple dish, I know…but the flavors are wonderful and the dish is oh so rich and filling! Look at the delicious melty cheese…mmmm

However, the dish that has consistently won my heart happens to be a pizza. It is called Chef Eduardo’s Special Pizza, and oh my is it special!

The pizza features sliced cherry tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, and prosciutto. Simple simple simple. The pizza is grilled, not baked, which gives it a lovely char on the bottom of the crust. I dream about this pizza. I kid you not.

One more photo? Just because I can…

But what about dessert? I wouldn’t ever forget dessert, because Casa Ludovico also boasts the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. The…very…best. I would do bad bad things to obtain the recipe for this dessert, because I have never tasted any that have come close to this one.

It is extremely fluffy and insanely light. I really don’t know how they do it. It has the perfect blend of coffee, mascarpone, and cocoa. I’m drooling just thinking about it.

So, if you haven’t already visited Casa Ludovico and you are in the Clearwater/Tampa area, I highly suggest you make your way to this delicious spot and see for yourself how awesome it is!

I’ve always wanted to go there (seriously, my parents’ house is walking distance to it – no joke), but somehow we haven’t gotten to it yet. Maybe one of our next visits we’ll make it over there, because now I’m craving Italian before 9 in the morning…

YUM — that pizza looks amazing! And, being a dessert girl myself, that tiramisu looks like it’s to die for.

Yeah, I’d pretty much be focused on the infused olive oil & olives with the bread all night – one of my biggest weaknesses.
